“When you step into an intersection of fields, disciplines, or cultures, you can combine existing concepts into a large number of extraordinary ideas.”

— Frans Johansson

It all started in 2015 when I approached my colleague about a course, Design Thinking for Problem Solving, at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. We were constantly dealing with problems and any solutions were welcomed. After that course, I was hooked on human-centered design and never looked back. It just took a while to get here.

A Thinking Problem …

Systems & Intersections…

My careers and experiences brought me to many intersections which impact my approach to design and problem solving. The newest intersection lead me to the Maryland College Institute of Art and their Center for Social Design where I worked design projects for public health, education and immigration. Before MICA, I worked at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s International Vaccine Access Center as a Senior Grants & Contracts Analyst.

One of the most rewarding career intersections was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gambia from 2000-2003. While in West Africa, I worked on capacity building for the Ministry of Health, trained on computer literacy, chaired the scholarship committee, designed brochures and print media for youth health and vaccinated children for countrywide polio eradication campaigns.
